Milas-Bodrum airport (much more generally known simply as Bodrum Airport) is located on a peninsula which just out from the southwest coast of Turkey into the Aegean Sea. The Greek island of Kos is a few km’s away, across a narrow strait. Once the home of Herodotus, Bodrum is known today as a beautiful and popular resort area. The airport is situated 36kms northeast of the town of Bodrum, and 16kms south of Milas. A spacious new international terminal was completed in 2000. The old terminal, now reserved for domestic flights, is 1km away, a fifteen-minute walk across a grassy field. The terminals host about 2.5 million travellers per year, and are especially busy during the peak summer tourism months when charter flights arrive frequently from major cities in Europe.

Milas is a town in southwestern Turkey. It is part of Mugla Province and depends on the province seat of Mugla administratively. It was the ancient capital of Caria and of the Anatolian Turkish Beylik of Mentese. The property of Milas district features of 27 different archaeological sites, a record amongst local entities in Turkey, and possibly anywhere.

Bodrum is a Turkish port in Mugla Province. It is on the Bodrum Peninsula, near the northwest entrance to the Gulf of Gökova, and faces the Greek island of Kos. Today, it is a centre of tourism and yachting. It is the ancient Halicarnassus of Caria, renowned for the mausoleum of Maussollos.

The town is very popular tourist resort for northern Europeans due to its attractive coastline and active night-life (Bodrum has been humorously referred to as the “Bedroom of Europe”). It can safely be said that every year at the very least a few hundreds of 1000′s of tourists visit Bodrum. The current populace is 32,227. In the town there is also a football team called Bodrumspor founded in 1931.
